Rosemary Turner, age 73, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, after a brief illness. A native of Macon, Georgia, Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Mary Turner. She grew up in south Bibb County and spent most of her adult life in the Atlanta area. The last three years of her life were spent enjoying the mountain life in Blairsville, Georgia. Rosemary was a graduate of McEvoy High School in Macon and received by BS degree in Home Economics from Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia. She received her Master's in Education from Georgia State University. Rosemary retired from the Atlanta Public School system after teaching primarily first and second grade for thirty-six years. She also worked for many years at the Georgia Archives. Rosemary was an avid genealogist and a member of the Georgia Genealogical Society. She was a cat lover and enjoyed sewing, needlework and other crafts, as well as reading. Rosemary was a member of Peachtree Road UMC in Atlanta where she was active in her Sunday School class. Following her move to Blairsville, Georgia, she attended First UMC of Union County. Surviving family members include her siblings, Patricia Rutland of Dalton, Georgia, Ruth Turner of Blairsville, Georgia, and Ken Turner of Macon, Georgia. She is also survived by a niece, Rebecca Rutland of Dalton, Georgia; nephew, David L. Rutland (Susan) of Calhoun, Georgia; grandnephews, Tyler Rutland and Will Rutland; grandniece, Cate Rutland; and her beloved cat, Fluffy. The family will receive guests Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home in Macon, Georgia between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. Graveside services for Rosemary Turner will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 1:30 PM at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery in Macon, Georgia with Rev. Jack Osborn officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Humane Society's Mountain Shelter in Blairsville, Georgia, or the charity of your choice. Please visit www.sardisheardfunerals.com to express condolences.
