Alexander “Sandy” Archibald III, 75, of Lizella, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024.  A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with the Reverend Phillip Johnson officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org) and ASPCA, (https://secure.aspca.org/donate) in honor of Alexander Archibald III.

Sandy was born on December 8, 1948, in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Alexander Archibald, Jr. and Eloise Fern Spielman Archibald.  He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  Sandy was stationed on the USS MOUNT KATMAI, which was an ammunition ship. He married Stephany Marie Stephenson, who was the love of his life in 1968.  Sandy loved working at Cabinetry by Evans until he retired in 2016.  He always took pride in his craftsmanship.

Sandy loved the outdoors, which included hunting, fishing, and exploring nature.  Sandy also was the biggest LSU football fan. Sandy was a life-long coach of little league baseball at Western Macon Ballpark. He took his team to the Big-League World Series in 1994 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His greatest love was his wife and his family.  He will be missed greatly.

Sandy is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Stephany Archibald; his sons, Brian Archibald (Christina) of Lizella and Michael Archibald (Heather) of Macon; his grandchildren, Aden Archibald of Abbeville, Alabama, and Shelbi Archibald of Macon; and his sister, Sarah Anne Lilly of Macon.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Caleb Archibald.
