Angela Lynn Petty

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Angie Petty, a dedicated wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend of so many. She passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Friday, June 26, 2026, at home, holding the hand of her husband of almost 36 years.

Born on May 19th, 1957, to Gene and Mary Esther Cheshire, in Macon, Georgia, she grew up with a strong musical background, anchored in faith, and surrounded by a large, loving family. She graduated from Southwest High in ‘75 and got a degree in Electronics from DeVry. She was a trailblazer in the field of electronics in the 80’s and 90’s being one of few women in a male dominated career. She decided to work on cash registers, eventually owning her own cash register business for many years here in Macon and creating a formidable reputation in Middle Georgia, before finally landing a career at the Robins Air Force Base in the early 2000s working on the electronic components for F-15 and F-22 fighter planes where she would eventually retire. She was an avid reader and loved cooking and feeding others. She loved online gaming and absolutely adored playing with her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Esther Hart (Chuck) and her father, Franklin Eugene Cheshire, and her brothers, Hughland Alan Zeagler, Michael Anthony Zeagler, and Bill Zeagler, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Jordan “Jody” Petty; her sons, Shannon Callaway (Michelle) and Joey Callaway (Alli); grandchildren, Declan and Caitlin Callaway; sisters, Rene Carden, Cindy Stephens (Chris), Debbie Montgomery (David), Kathy Zeagler, Kacey Musselwhite (Lynn), and brother, Ches Cheshire (Marti). She was also blessed with a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins and a wellspring of loving friends and coworkers.
