Ben Tarver Finney, Jr.

January 31, 1942 — February 20, 2026

Macon

Ben Tarver Finney, born January 31, 1942, in Macon, Georgia, passed away surrounded by the love of his family—a love he spent his lifetime giving freely, quietly, and without condition. To know Ben was to be cared for, protected, and deeply loved. His funeral will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Duggan officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery, 1992 Pea Ridge Road, in Juliette, Georgia.

Ben was the beloved son of Benjamin T. Finney Sr. and Faye Finney. From them, he learned the values that defined his life: honesty, humility, and the importance of showing up and doing things the right way. Those principles guided him through every season of his life and were evident in everything he touched.

Ben devoted his working years to his trade as an electrician and was a proud member of the I.B.E.W. He took genuine pride in his work—not for recognition, but because he believed in craftsmanship, responsibility, and integrity. Ben didn’t just build structures; he built trust. His work reflected who he was: steady, dependable, and true.

When Ben wasn’t working, he found peace in the outdoors. Hunting and fishing weren’t just hobbies—they were moments of reflection and contentment. In the stillness of early mornings and quiet waters, Ben found joy in simplicity, patience, and gratitude. That calm strength was part of who he was, and those moments mirrored the gentle way he moved through life.

Above all else, Ben’s greatest joy was his family. He loved deeply and faithfully, and his presence was a constant source of comfort and security. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ann Finney, and a proud, loving father to his children, Tarver Finney (Lisa) and Mylinda “Mindy” Roddenberry (James). His heart overflowed with love for his grandchildren—Benjamin and Candis Finney, Kaylen Renfroe, Jace Roddenberry, and Leelan Roddenberry—each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He also embraced Ann’s children, Chris Spivey (B) and Mike Spivey (Earline), as his own, loving them with the same steadfast devotion.

Ben is also survived by his loving siblings, his brother Larry Finney (Nancy) and his sister Linda Padgett (Larry), who shared a lifetime of memories, family bonds, and love.

Ben’s love was not loud or showy—it was constant, reliable, and unconditional. It was felt in his presence, his actions, and the quiet ways he cared for those around him. He taught by example what it means to be a good man, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a steady friend.

Ben Tarver Finney leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and unwavering commitment to family. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the lives he shaped, the values he passed down, and the love that will continue to bind his family together forever.
