Dr. Bobby Lamar Pilcher, 89, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, 6125 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216. The family will greet friends for a reception following the service.
Dr. Pilcher was born on October 26, 1935, in Americus, Georgia to the late Hilda Lamar Pilcher and Sallie Lee Lansford Pilcher. He was a1957 graduate of the University of Georgia and went on to obtain his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1961.
Dr. Pilcher honorably served his country as a Captain in the Air Force, where he was the Chief of Radiology. He continued his career at Houston County Hospital, dedicating over 30 years to healthcare as the Chief of Radiology.
Upon retirement, he pursued his passion for travel, exploring the world across all seven continents. He found joy in the leisure of golf and was an avid reader of Poetry and the Bible. Dr. Pilcher's life was a testament to the pursuit of knowledge and the spirit of adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dr. Pilcher is survived by his sons, Dr. Britton Lamar Pilcher (Sandra) of Kathleen, Georgia, and Zachary Pilcher of Macon; daughters, Jennifer Miriam Pilcher Duke Doublier (Rene) of Macon, and Victoria Pilcher of Juno Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren: Brenna Kent (Allen) of Kathleen, Georgia, John Lamar Pilcher of Atlanta, Georgia, Charlotte Pilcher of Macon, Samuel Duke of San Diego, California, Katie Belle Duke of Macon, Benjamin Duke of Macon, and Lili Hurst of Palm Beach, Florida; great-grandchildren, Noah Kent and Joseph Kent, both of Kathleen, Georgia; God granddaughter, Somer Etheredge of Fort Valley, Georgia; God great-granddaughter, Ayla Etheredge of Fort Valley, Georgia; sister, Virginia Elaine Goggans (Les) of Peachtree City, Georgia; and cousins, Barbara and Bobby Dodson of Americus, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Pilcher was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Miriam Wilhelmina Clifton Pilcher; brother, Wendall Wayne Pilcher; and sister, Sarah Helen Willis (Joel.)
