Carey Manning LaFavor, 77, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Henry Dixon officiating.
Son of the late Willie R. LaFavor and Jeannette Powell LaFavor, Carey was born in McRae, Georgia on October 17, 1946. He was a 1964 graduate of Lanier High School, where he was a member of the ROTC.
After diligently serving the Macon community, Carey retired from a fulfilling career with the Macon Water Authority. Prior to this role, he had spent many years dedicated to the trucking industry.
Carey was an avid automobile enthusiast and long-time member of Southern Classic Cruisers Car Club, where he won many show trophies. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for the GA Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons. He was known as a gentle giant, his legacy of warmth and generosity will forever resonate with those he touched.
Carey will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Jeanie Gay (Donnie) of Laurens County; nephew, Jason Ward (Tina) of Forsyth, Georgia; great nephews, Pace Ward and Jude Ward; cousins, Don Gay (Nicci) of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Renee Anderson (Will) of Joshua, Texas; and sister-in-law, Lyn Parish of Forsyth, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, Carey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine Ward LaFavor.
