Donnie Darrell Hudson

Donnie D. Hudson passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31st, beginning at 10:00 am at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following at 11:00 am. Interment will be private at Sardis Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to share a memory, story, or thoughts about Donnie during the memorial.

Donnie was born on December 30, 1968, in Macon, GA to Angerson “Doc” Eugene Hudson and Betty Sue Crump Hudson. A lifelong resident of Macon, Donnie was well known and loved. He was an employee of All American Quality Food Depot for 29 years working in their Fort Valley, Warner Robins, and Macon locations. Donnie never met a stranger and knew more people in the Middle Georgia area, and who they were related to, than most. To know Donnie was to know at least one of his many stories, and most likely to have heard it more than once. He could spin a tale even if it sometimes grew with each telling. He never sat still and loved fishing, swimming, playing pool, lighting and manning the fire barrel, tree cutting and most anything else you wanted to include him in. He thrived off of friendship. He was a pretty good shot, too, winning several local turkey shoots in his day. He is survived by many cousins including Kathy Bowden, who was more of an aunt to him, and who frequently helped guide him through major life decisions. He leaves behind some dear neighbors and friends: Fostine Barnes, his longtime neighbor and dinner companion; Alan Buchanan, who hired him at Food Depot and continued to watch out for Donnie during all his 29 years with the company; and a beloved best friend of 37 years, Glynn (Julie) Beasley, and honorary nephew and nieces Wyrick (Salina) Beasley, Anlynn and Adalee Beasley.
