Dorothy "Dot" Grant Surles

Dorothy (Dot) Grant Surles, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, May 25, 2024. She was born January 30, 1924 in Americus, GA to Myrtle Grant and P.T. “Pete” Grant.

Without question, Dot loved her family passionately. She was known by all of her family and friends for being an exceptional cook. She took great pride in preparing meals that pleased all who sat at her table.

One of Dot’s greatest loves was her precious cats as she could not sleep at night until all were accounted for. She also had a love for gardening, as long as she was physically able, she had beautiful flowers in her yard. She was an excellent seamstress and loved making ceramics for her children and grandchildren. She also loved to hook a good fish when given the opportunity.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 45 years, Russell L. Surles, a granddaughter, Debi Jenks, and her sister, Evelyn Archer.

Survivors include her beloved daughter and caregiver for many years, Beverly J. Surles; four sons: Russell C. (Sandy) Surles, Terry Surles, Keith (Rita) Surles and Jeff (Stephanie) Surles; a brother, P.T. “Thorny” (Vicki) Grant; nine grandchildren, Lee, Steven, Jeffrey, Shawn, Abbey and Joshua Surles, Kim Surles (John) Bryant, April Surles (Steven) Pogue, and Lauren Surles (Shelby) Morgan; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Sardis-Heard Funerals and Cremation Center located at 6125 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 2:30 pm in the Georgetown Cemetery located at 133 South Street, Georgetown, GA.
