Emmett B. Leaptrot Jr.

Emmett B. Leaptrot, Jr., 80, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on June 29, 2021.  A private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Sardis-Heard Funerals and Cremation Center. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Mr. Emmett was born in Macon, Georgia, to the late Emmett Barnes Leaptrot, Sr., and the late Doris Henrietta Mitchell Leaptrot.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He retired from the United States Postal Service working there for thirty-six years. Afterwards, he worked twenty-two years at Primerica.

Emmett is preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy Melinda Leaptrot Jacobson, and brother, James A. Leaptrot, and his previous wife, Barbara E. Briggs Leaptrot.

Emmett is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Rachel Moore Leaptrot; son, Roger Leaptrot (Brenda) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; daughter, Stephanie Denise Leaptrot Floyd, of Lawrenceville, Georgia;  five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; step-children, Cherri Durden Riner (Rick), Karen Durden Hall, Scott Durden (Amy), Chad Durden (Mindy); fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; step-children, Marie Andrus, Michelle Andrus, Melissa Andrus Adams (Thomas), Douglas Andrus Jr., Daniel M. Andrus (Melissa); six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Judy L. Hackney of Macon, Georgia, Kaye L. Gordon (Leslie) of Rome, Georgia, and Donna L. McNair (Jason) of Warner Robins, Georgia; and brother, Ray P. Leaptrot, of Juliette, Georgia.
