Frances Carolyn Tomberlin Wilder, 85, of Macon, Georgia, passed away after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services to honor her life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 12:00 PM, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles Michael Blizzard officiating. Family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, Georgia.
Frances was born on January 29, 1939, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late John Thomas and Bessie Louise Tomberlin. Her family moved to Macon when her father began working at Robins Air Force Base. After school, she trained in medical technology services and worked at the Macon Hospital. She later became a district manager for Tupperware and worked there for fifteen years. She ended her work history for Tradebank International after 17 years as a broker.
She loved singing and sharing the Gospel through music. Music was her heart and she traveled all over the South singing Gospel Music since 1953. She was of the Christian Faith her entire life. Recently, she attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. One of her favorites things she enjoyed was yearly holiday meals with all her family and friends. Her family describes her an “An Angel” - “Faithful” and “Vivacious”. She will be miss dearly.
Frances is survived by her children, Cathy E. Foskey (Jimmy), Janice Marie Gibbs (Horace), Joseph “Joe” Wilder, Patricia N. Wilder; her grandchildren, Michael Foley (Marium), Ashley Foley (Sarah), Michelle Selph (Ken), Chad Foley (Chavon), Amy Noll (Stephen), Felicia Carr, Dottie Morrison (BJ), Michael Gibbs (Melissa), Jonathan Foskey (Chassity), Jessica Douglas (Chuck), Laura Brackin, Jennifer Wilder, and Melissa Gibbs (Justin); her brother, Johnny T. Tomberlin (Carolyn); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Harry Rutherford Wilder, Sr.; her son, Harry R. Wilder; Jr., her sibling; Louise Aldridge; and her grandson-in-law, Charles David Kitner.
