George was born on November 17, 1955, in New York City, to Lilla Kate Hart and George Henry Hart, Jr. George was the eldest of five boys.  Even at a young age, he was curious and loved to learn.  He participated in Boy Scouts and achieved Eagle Scout at age 18. He graduated from Valdosta High School one year earlier with honors.  After attending Valdosta State College (where he met Nancy), he joined the United States Navy and served for six years in the nuclear submarine program.  After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for the Virginia Power Plant, near Richmond, Virginia, in the North ANNA nuclear station.  Moving back to Georgia, he achieved BSN at Georgia College and worked at MCCG in the CCU and in the neonatal ICU. He continued to have a passion for learning and eventually earned his BA in math at Mercer University and an engineering degree from Mercer as well.  George received his medical degree from Mercer University and completed his residency at MCCG in 2001. As an internal medicine MD, he worked as a hospitalist at Coliseum Medical Center, MCCG, Oconee Regional, Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, and Regency Hospital.  He also was a medical professor at Mercer University.  In 2017, he had an excision of a left temporal hemangioma (benign) and he suffered some resulting seizures that affected his memory which forced his retirement from the medical practice.  In 2022, he was diagnosed with melanoma and was unable to tolerate the immunotherapy treatment. He still participated in many family events and projects, and even took some courses at Georgia Tech (online).  Always a lover of books, his favorite was the Holy Bible, which he read many times and studied daily.

George is survived by his wife, Nancy Hart; his two sons, Michael George Hart and Sean Thomas Hart (Jami); his grandchildren, Jenna Godwin, Mason George Godwin, Jackson Keith Godwin, Braelynn Olivia Castle, Leelynn Grey Hart, Hollynn Jane Hart; his mother, Lilla Kate Hart; his brothers, William “Bill” Hart, and Edward Hart (Karen); his brother-in-law, James Clark (Jodi); his nephew, James Hart, John Remer Hart Jr. (Erin); his great niece, Adalynn Hart; his nieces, Elizabeth Clark and Lauren Johnson.  He is preceded in death by his father, George Henry Hart, Jr.; and his brothers, Redden Hart and John Remer Hart.
