Glenny Mitchell Clark

Glenny Mitchell Clark passed away on August 13, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at Sardis Heard Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. There will be an open microphone for family and friends to share their favorite memories of Glenny “Big Dawg” Clark.

Glenny “Big Dawg” Clark was born March 6,1941, in Macon, Georgia to James Cleveland “JC” Clark and Florence Elizabeth (Howard) Clark. Glenny attended Ware Elementary and Lanier High School, where he excelled athletically, being named the Poets Defensive Player of the Year.

On February 20, 1960, Glenny wed his high school sweetheart and only love, Mable Frances (Gresham) Clark. Glenny and Frances were married for 52 years when she preceded him in death. Glenny retired from Dry Branch Kaolin as a laboratory technician and was always fond of his DBK family.

Glenny became fondly known as “Big Dawg” due his love of University of Georgia Football. Anyone who ever left a message on his phone will remember his distinctive message. Glenny and Frances were season ticket holders and loved taking kids and grandkids to the games. Glenny was also an avid softball player and bowler. He played for and managed several local softball teams and later became an umpire. As a bowler, Glenny competed in several leagues and tournaments and has a career 300 game to his name.

Glenny is survived by his three sons: Mitchell (Charlene) of Macon, Georgia; Bob (Juanita) of Gainesville, Florida; and Gary (Frank) of Atlanta, Georgia. Glenny is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved Big Dawg’s big personality and generous heart.
