October 28, 2015 — March 12, 2025

Macon

Kevin Carl Lobello, 9, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at First Presbyterian Church, 682 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia.  Reverend Chip Miller will officiate, and Founding Principal of the Academy for Classical Education, Mrs. Laura Perkins will speak at the service. The family invites friends to a visitation after the service, in the Fellowship Hall.

Kevin was born on October 28, 2015, in Macon, Georgia, to his parents, Justyne Lobello and John Lobello.  Kevin lit up any room he walked into, and his smile was contagious. He loved Legos, especially building them with his mom. One of Kevin’s favorite Lego memories was building a custom train with a Master Builder at Atlanta’s Lego Discovery Center. He also enjoyed hiking and kayaking with his dad. One of their recent trips was to Tallulah Gorge, where Kevin bravely walked across the suspension bridge over the gorge. Kevin loved to read, but only if it was his choice. He also loved Minecraft and playing with his dogs, Arvin, Ami, and Kirby. Kevin loved to travel, and visited Wisconsin and Nevada with his mom, and Florida and New York with his dad and stepmom. The Make-A-Wish Foundation gifted him and his family with the trip to New York City, where Kevin’s wish was granted when he went to the top of the Empire State Building and ate Doritos.

In November of 2023, Kevin was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a rare, hard-to-treat brain cancer that mainly affects children.  He was treated by the fine doctors of the Aflac Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and received radiation treatment at the Winship Cancer Center at Emory University.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Justyne Lobello; his father and stepmother, John and Maggie Lobello; his “Nanny and Papa”, Kevin and Peggy Lobello; his “Grandma”, Kristin Zirk; his “Lolli and Pops”, Johnny and Lyn Williams; his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Edwards (Adam), Sarah Pearson (Tyler), Lara Hercules (Chris), and Matthew Williams (Jessica); and his cousins, Willow, Thomas, and Bennett.  He is preceded in death by his great grandmother, Willow Heim.
