Lessie Mae Brewer Tucker

May 31, 1932 — November 21, 2024

Crawford County

Lessie Mae Brewer Tucker, 92, of Crawford County, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Fellowship Baptist Church, with the Reverend Jim Evans.  A time for visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 7070 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia 31216.

Lessie was born on May 31, 1932, in Ninety Six, South Carolina, to the late Lester Meadows and Mamie Vaughn Brewer.  She attended and graduated from Lanier High School.  Lessie married the love of her life, Willie Lawrence Tucker in 1948.  She was the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31, always looking after her family and home.  Lessie lived in Macon and Lizella most of her life and moved to Fort Valley to live with her daughter, Patricia and Jim Evans after her husband died. Lessie loved Christmas and making hand-made ornaments. She made the holidays a special time for her family and friends. She also loved gardening and could make anything grow. Her love extended to all animals because they are a part of God’s beautiful creation. Psalms 104:24-25, “All creatures large and small, the Lord created them all.” She loved animals like children, and they responded in kind.  She raised four orphaned squirrels that her son brought home, gave them names and they were like kittens.  The little squirrels would let anyone hold them and even their own room.

Lessie held fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ at Society Hill Baptist, Open Bible Baptist, and Fellowship Evangelistic Church.  Her strong faith was unwavering.  She was known for her gentle and meek spirit, but would be very quick in telling someone why they were in the mess they were in. Lessie never met a stranger, and she will be missed dearly.

Lessie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Evans (Jim) of Fort Valley, Georgia; her grandchildren, James “Jay” Evans (Cherry) of Macon, Brian Jonathan (Carol) of Fort Valley, Stacie Sumner (Andy) of Kathleen, and Michael Tucker (Dottie); great-grandchildren, Ezekial “Zeke” Evans (Ashley), Jacob Evans (Dixie), Caeden Evans, Jordan Evans, Harley Evans (Nikki), Nathan Evans (Bethany), Amber Evans, Tori Fitzgerald, Elena Fitzgerald, Will Tucker, Andrew Sumner; her great great-grandchildren, Bailey Evans, Tobias  Evans, Brock Evans, and Liam Evans.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lawrence Michael; her brothers, Louis Brewer and George Brewer; her sister, Rosie Millwood; and her great-granddaughter, Kim Tucker.
