Merle Cannon Morgan

Merle Cannon Morgan, 69, of Macon, Georgia, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, January 17, 2025.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to service.  Graveside services will immediately follow the service at Glen Haven Memorial Garden, 7070 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia 31216.

Merle was born on October 24, 1955, in Forest Park, Georgia, to the late Henry Herald and Annie Laverne Cannon Morgan.  He was the youngest of four boys.  He was a proud veteran of the United States.  Merle also loved to hunt.  He loved being outdoors, while hunting for his next trophy to bring home.  Merle began his work career at Florsheim Shoes in 1983 and worked there for many years, working his way up to becoming the store manager.  He then started working at Geico in 2001 and retired from there in 2016.

Merle is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Shari Leigh Morgan; his stepchildren, Mandy Louise Brunke (Eric) and Rob Riggin, III (Ashley Tempel); his step-grandchildren, Alexander, Kaitlyn, and Emma; his brother, Rex Herald Morgan (Gail); his nephew, Brian Allen Morgan (Debra); and his niece, Serena Ann Angles (Eddie).  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his other two brothers.
