Michael Hughes

Michael Douglas Hughes, 53, of Macon, Georgia, formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 1, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held soon at Haw Creek Baptist Church, 1405 Haw Creek Road, Cumming, Georgia 30041.  Details will soon be posted.

Michael was born in Buford, Georgia, to the late Martha and Doug Hughes. He received his associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Phoenix University.  He had a huge love for dragons, playing Scrabble and Rummy. He loved spending time with his family, especially his wife and grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his wife of nine years, Amy Hughes; children, Cynthia Hughes of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Tony Hughes (Charlotte Hughes) of Macon, Georgia; Michael Hughes (A.J. Hughes) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Suzanne Collier (Ricky) of Oxford, Georgia; Karen Samples of Duluth, Georgia; and Orion Samples of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his grandchildren, Mary-Isis Sheerer and Aaron Sheerer; his brothers, Matthew Mauldin (Lori) of Gainesville, Georgia; and James Hughes (Kathleen) of Spring Hill, Florida; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
