Mildred Jeannette Carter, 95, of Macon, GA, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Sardis Heard Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Chris Dotson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place, East, Landover, Maryland 20785, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
Mrs. Carter was born in Washington County, Georgia to the late Marion Riley and Mildred Johnson Sheppard. She retired from Bellsouth after 20 years of service. Mrs. Carter was a charter member of Porterfield Baptist Church, a member of the Leisure Club, and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Mrs. Carter was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star chapter 418. She was a member of Pioneer Partner with Bellsouth, Rutland AARP, and XYZ at Vineville Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Harvey Carter, Jr.; son, Harvey Warren Carter; and grandson, Carey Thomas Funck.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her children, Sharron Carter Funck (Vic) of Cartersville, Georgia and Kenneth Marion Carter (Karen) of Macon; and several nieces and nephews. She was the "Memaw" to seven grandchildren, Tracy Funck, Jason Carter (Sharon), Melissa Baez (Abe), Bryan Funck, Lindsey Powell (Ben), Kenneth Carter (Lauren), and Jessie Connealy (Rhett); and nineteen great-grandchildren.
