Roger Dale Hughes

Roger Dale Hughes, 73, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Brightmoor Hospice in Macon, Georgia. His family will plan a memorial service in his honor for a later date.

Roger was born October 15, 1952, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Rayford and Reba Givens Hughes. At just 16 years old he began a career in banking and built a loyal clientele who followed him for many years. Roger loved his clients, too, and enjoyed nearly six decades of work before retiring at age 73. In addition, Roger dutifully served with the National Guard. He had a servant’s heart and always enjoyed helping others. Roger loved his family and took great pride in providing for and protecting them. Most of all, he was a devout Christian and believer in Jesus Christ. He is certainly rejoicing in Heaven, now, and we know we will see him again one day.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son, Roger Dale Hughes II; his daughter, Heather Diane Hughes; and his brother, Bobby Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Hughes; his daughters, Chelsea Jewel Hughes and Randalle Charlene Hughes; his grandchildren, Emma, Layla, Noah, and Cassidy; and his brother, Randall Hughes.
