Evangelist Ronald Lee Childress, Sr., 84, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on January 27, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at World of Faith Ministries, 3960 Hartley Bridge Road, Macon, GA 31216. The family will greet friends at the Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. (central time) on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Stone Seminary Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Son of the late Otis and Hazel Childress, Ron was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 25, 1940, and graduated from East High School in 1958. He dedicated his life to ministry, pastoring several churches and evangelizing across 48 states, touching countless lives with his heartfelt preaching. He was a faithful member and active minister of the First Pentecostal Church of Macon.
Ron's love for the open road was reflected in his decades-long career as a truck driver, a job that fulfilled his sense of adventure. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, and was always ready with a joke, his great sense of humor bringing joy to everyone.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sister Mickey Childress of Macon; children, Harry Childress (Samantha), Mark Childress (Carrie), Crystal Jenkins (Terry), Clarence Woodard, Mary Gasser (Danny), and Tom Woodard; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lee Childress, Jr.; and his nine siblings.
