Scottie Eugene Thomas, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Avondale Baptist Church Cemetery, 6970 Cochran Field Road, Macon, Georgia 31216.Following the graveside service, there will be a Reception back at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home.
Scottie was born on September 9, 1974, in Macon, Georgia, to Coley “Andy” Thomas and Deborah Thomas Cypher. His family moved to Massachusetts where Scottie graduated from Bay Path Regional High School in Charlton, Massachusetts. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball during his high school years. Scottie joined the Army after graduating high school and served his country for six years. He was deployed from Ft. Stewart and Fort Benning to Kuwait, Iraq, Bosnia, Spain, and Barvaria-Vilsek, Germany.
Scottie met his future wife, Amy Renaud, in 5th grade, and later they dated for a few years before marrying in 1995. Their first home was in Webster, Mass, where he coached multiple sports and impacted the life of young people. He and Amy later moved to Macon, Georgia.
Scottie enjoyed working with his friends and co-workers at Delta Community Credit Union. He was a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Alabama Crimson Tide. Scottie had a loving competition in the kitchen with Amy, as they both loved to cook meals for the family, and he loved his dogs that he cherished through the years.
Scottie is survived by his wife, Amy Thomas; his children, Michael Thomas and Alli Thomas; his mother, Deborah Thomas Cypher; his stepfather, Gregory Cypher; his granddaughter, Ava Thomas Stately; his brothers, Billy Wayne Thomas and Chad Thomas; his sisters, Mandy Wynn (Tim), Lindsey Manning, and Caitlyn Thomas; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Terry Ann Renaud; his brother-in-law, Scott Renaud (Kristen); his uncle, Scott Thomas (Rhonda); his cousins, who were like brothers to Scottie, Joshua and Zachary Thomas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, 6125 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia 31216, has charge of the arrangements.
