Sylvia Bivins Pierce, 92, of Macon, Georgia, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2:00pm, at Memory Hill Cemetery, 300 West Franklin Street, Milledgeville, Georgia. Reverend Adam Bray will officiate.
Sylvia was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the first of five children born to the late John C. Bivins and Gladys Stubbs Bivins. She lived in Jones County, Georgia for the next eight years, after which her family moved to Macon, Georgia, where she spent most of her life. Sylvia graduated from Miller High School, and then Macon Junior College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree; and then, she received her MBA from Georgia College. Sylvia worked as a logistics management specialist at Warner Robins Air Force Base, retiring in 1995 after 34 years of civil service. In 1997, she worked supporting logistic programs at the base for Modern Technologies Corporation for ten years.
Sylvia is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie L. Pierce (Michael Tracey) of Edenton, North Carolina and Sherri L. Pierce of Ellijay, Georgia; her granddaughter, Maya C. Edelstein of Portland, Oregon; her grandson, Pierce Edelstein of Newburgh, New York; her granddogs, Waldo of Ellijay, Georgia and Marley of Edenton, North Carolina; her sisters-in-law, Helen C. Bivins of Augusta, Georgia, Pat C. Bivins of Macon, Georgia, Marianne E. Bivins of Gray, Georgia, and Sue P. Ness of Macon; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John C. Bivins and Gladys Stubbs Wise; her brothers, Carlton Bivins, Phil A. Bivins, William T. “Billy” Bivins, and Larry Bivins. Also preceding her in death was her maternal grandparents, Tom A. Stubbs and Rosa Etheridge Stubbs McDowell; and her paternal grandparents, Jack C. Bivins and Mattie Skinner Bivins.
Sylvia attended Cornerstone Baptist Church for several years.
