Obituary

Bennie Spires, 81, of Macon, Georgia, went to the be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 6, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home in Macon, Georgia. 

Bennie graduated from Dudley Hughes High School. He was an All-Star Athlete with many records in basketball, baseball, and football. He loved sports, and especially loved sharing his love for baseball with his grandson, Kolt, and watching him follow his footsteps.  He also loved fishing and was an avid golfer. He was a hard worker. He retired from Armstong, working there for thirty years; and he also retired from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, working there for eighteen years.  

Bennie loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. He will be remembered for his compassion and his strong love for Jesus Christ. Many people began their own relationship with Jesus Christ by Bennie’s testimony. 

Bennie is survived by his wife, Dorothy Reynolds Spires; children, Kristen Warnock (Chris), Cindy Otwell, Celia Arnett; grandchildren, Cady Frederick (Marvin), Harliee Henderson (Devin), Cameron Arnett, Preston Hodge, Jesse Otwell (Cassie), August Otwell, Kolt Amerson; great-grandchildren, Leighton Frederick, Bo Henderson; and his cousins, Danny Spires, Sr. (Diane), Debra Padgett, Danny Spires, Jr. (Amber), and Emily Wooley (David).
