Brenda Rumney, 68, of Juliette, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with Pastor Matthew Adams officiating. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.
Brenda was born in 1954, to the Late Gene and Margie Clark Drawhorn. She was the oldest of six children and the "mother- figure" in their lives. She made sure everyone was well taken care of, and ensured that everyone had a hot-cooked meal every day.
She married Danny Rumney in 1972, and she carried on the tradition of being the mother figure and caretaker by raising their three children. She was very proud of her family. As her children grew up, their friends loved to come over and spend time because “Mama Brenda” would always make the house warm and welcoming. She loved to cook, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. Her love language was cooking food for others. She even learned how to make delicious cakes so that she could make them for her grandchildren when they had their birthday parties. She also loved to make quilts for family and friends, sewing as many as six hundred hours of love into each quilt. What people saw as “work”; she saw as a “labor of love”.
While she started out working at Riverside Clinic, she later worked at Ortho Georgia where she retired. She spent her days quilting, cooking, and making the most of every day with her husband, children, grandkids and great-grand kids. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Rumney, Sr.; her children, Danny Rumney Jr. (Bethany), Tiffany Rumney, and Jessica Drawhorn (Austin); her grandchildren, Brooks Rumney (Sydney), Coleman Rumney (Jordan Rozier), Sage Rumney, Mkayla Braddy, Mkinzy Mackey, Austin Mackey and Melissa Lester; her great-grandchildren, Brinson Rumney, Ansleigh Braddy, and Avery Mackey; her brothers, Dennis Drawhorn (Alise), Kenneth Drawhorn (Rhonda), Keith Drawhorn (Paula), and Craig Drawhorn; her sister, Geni Hancock (Tim); many other beloved family members and friends.
