Craig McCarter, 59, passed away on January 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born on October 13, 1961 to the late Charles Floyd McCarter and Gwendona Mae Pierce McCarter. A celebration of his life will be held at the Barn at Sardis-Heard Funerals and Cremation Center, 6125 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia 31216. Flowers will be accepted or memorials in Craig’s honor may be made to Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital, 888 Pine Street, Macon, Georgia 31201, https://childrenshospitalnh.org/.
Craig was survived by his wife, Theresa McCarter of Macon, Georgia; two daughters, Liz Bateman-Tobias (Sid) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Gwendolyn McCarter of Macon, Georgia; two sons, Christopher McCarter of Athens, Georgia, and Thomas McCarter of Macon, Georgia; one grandson, Alex Bateman of Warner Robins, Georgia; and two sisters, Debra Westbury (Sparky) and Stephanie Fredericks both of Charleston, South Carolina.
Craig was an assistant manager for Southern Roof Center. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Craig's outgoing personality will be missed by many friends whom he adopted as family. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, and the Kansas City Chiefs football team; but his heart was with the University of Georgia football team; he never missed watching them. He and his wife were big supporters of local musicians and cuisine. He was most importantly a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
