DANA WILLIAMS, CPA died after a brief illness at his home in Macon, where he had recently moved. He was the son of the late Dudley E. and Rebecca Holloway Williams, Birmingham. Dana graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a BS, Finance in 1989. Afterward, he achieved his goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He began his career working for companies in Birmingham before relocating to Atlanta in 1995. There he worked for John Wieland Homes, Turner Broadcasting (seven years), AID Atlanta, Emory University, and Inmark, in various accounting and finance positions, and, finally, for Central Atlanta Progress (nine years), rising to Vice President of Finance.
Dana was a humanitarian and advocate for many charitable organizations, giving his time, talent, and financial support. He was a key volunteer for AIDS Walk Atlanta for over a decade, totaling funds the annual event raised to present at each closing ceremony. He also dedicated time and resources for The Rites of Spring in Birmingham, and Uncork A Cure, Joining Hearts, Jerusalem House, The Trevor Project, and CHRIS 180 in Atlanta. Memorial gifts to any of these organizations would be much appreciated.
A long-time resident of LaVista Park, Dana served six years on its Civic Association Board, including four years as Treasurer. Throughout his life, Dana enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad, including Ireland, Italy, and France.
Dana is survived by his partner of seven years, Danny Glover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Rosemary Williams. Dana will be remembered by his many friends and associates for his big heart, commitment to the greater good, and quick wit. As he wished, a Celebration of Dana’s Life will be announced in the near future.
