Evelyn was born in Dublin, Georgia, and graduated from Wilkinson County High School. She also attended Tift College for Women in Forsyth, Georgia.
She was a member of Big Sandy Baptist Church from her childhood through her adult life and was a pianist there for many years until she married her husband, Glenn Bartell, and moved to her new home in Wrens, Georgia.
Evelyn always enjoyed shopping and was known for being able to find the best bargains around on any item she ever set out to find. She and Glenn could spend an entire day in search of one thing and just be delighted to finally find it for a good price.
In Wrens, Evelyn worked in the Jefferson County School System as a paraprofessional until retirement. During their stay in Wrens, she, Glenn, and her daughters were members of The Wrens United Methodist Church. The entire family was active in the church and Evelyn continued to serve the Lord with her gift of music on the piano. She and Glenn were faithful members of the choir and in many other capacities until his death, when she relocated back to Macon, Georgia.
Her family sadly morns her loss and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy E. Faulk of Macon, Georgia, and Cheryl F. Barnett (Al) of Bolingbroke, Georgia; one brother, Anthony Butler (Sandra) of Nicklesville, Georgia; three sisters, Murlie Butler Bennett of Eastman, Georgia, Hazel Horne LeMunyan of Kemley, North Carolina, and Rava Horne Pierce of Nicklesville, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Bartell; her parents, Joseph Albert Butler and Cynthia Elizabeth Butler; her brothers, Harold W. Butler and Leon F. Horne, both of Dublin, Georgia; and her sister, Sylvia Butler Clements of Louisville, Georgia.
