Fay W. Burgamy, age 94, of Macon passed away Monday, October 4, 2021.
Fay loved others unconditionally and enjoyed sharing her faith, music, reading, hand-painted crafts, and spending time with her family. Her family enjoyed her sharing memories of growing up in Macon, and her time spent living on the island of Oahu, at Hickam Air Force Base, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, after graduating Miller High School in Macon, in 1945. In the early 1950’s, she served as a nurse at Battey Hospital in Rome, Georgia.
Fay was born in Macon, Georgia on June 9, 1927. She is preceded in death by her husband Calvin C. Burgamy, parents Willis Leo Wright, Sr. and Fay R. Wright, a daughter, Linda B. Mann and son, Russell R. Burgamy, brother, Wills Leo, “Bo” Wright, Jr., son-in-law, Cullie Mann, great-granddaughter, Evy Slappey and her sister Ann W. Rich. Fay was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Macon.
Survivors include three children, Nancy B. Slappey (George), Kenny Burgamy (Dawn), Tim Burgamy (Peggy), daughter-in-law, Patricia W. Burgamy; grandchildren, Matt Slappey, Dr. Stuart Slappey, Chad Mann, Burt Mann, Jenni B. Gabbard, Bobby Burgamy and Morgan B. Adams; 18 great grandchildren; her sister Pat W. Defore (Ed); several nieces and nephews; as well as her sister-in-law, Ethel Burgamy.
A graveside service for Fay W. Burgamy will be on Thursday, October 7, at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation following at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Lanny Earley will officiate.
