James Baker, 90, of Byron, passed away February 11, 2021. A graveside service will be Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins with the Reverend Brian Cameron officiating. The family will greet friends Monday, February 15, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. at Sardis Heard. James was born April 5, 1930 in Hazard, Kentucky, to the late Farmer Baker and Martha Oliver. He is survived by his daughter, Yvenia Croom (Ray) of Byron, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jamie Croom (Stephanie) of Andersonville, Georgia, Dawn Entenman (John) of Panama City, Florida, and Melanie Copa (Aaron) of Warner Robins; twelve great grandchildren, Bradley Smith, Allayana Croom, Jaccob Croom, Michael Coleman, Jr., Abigail Copa, Hannah Copa, Joshua Copa, Levi Copa, Noah Copa, Sarah Copa, Vashti Copa, and Zebina Copa; one brother, E.C. Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Imogene Wilson of Springfield, Ohio and daughter-n-law, Connie Warner of Panama City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Abner Baker and son, Donald Warner.
James worked as a coal miner for twenty-two years. He later worked at H.A. Spalding Engineering Company as a land surveyor for twenty-two years. He and Christine moved to Warner Robins in 1993. In 1995, following the death of his wife, James moved in with his daughter and family in Byron. He was an avid animal lover. James enjoyed fishing, gardening, singing, and anything outdoors. James loved life; he was always whistling and was known for constantly having a smile on his face.
