Johnny Hodges Obituary

On Monday, October 19, 2020, Johnny Hodges went to be with the Lord at his home after a fifteen-month battle with IPF. Johnny was born on March 20, 1955, to the late Luther and Faye Hodges.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Sardis-Heard Funerals and Cremation Center, 6125 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia.

He was a family man who showed great love for his family and his country throughout his life. If you were to ask Johnny, he began working in the field with his twin brother, Jimmy, at a young age. However, he began his adult career with service in the U.S. Navy, and after worked as a skilled butcher, lineman and electrician. He retired from the City of Forsyth as the Electrical Supervisor in March of 2020, where he served his city for a number of years and was known to go above and beyond with his work.

This type of mindset carried over to his love of family. Many will remember Johnny as a no-nonsense type of guy. While they would be correct in their recollection, he was also a man who valued his family and would do anything that needed to be done many times without having to ask. In the spare time that he allowed himself, he enjoyed fishing, football, and sea otters.

The thing Johnny loved most in this life was his family. His wife, Tina, was the love of his life; they were married for nearly twenty years and she was the brightest light in any room to him. There was not much that could melt his heart other than her, with the exception of his grandchildren. Johnny and Tina were blessed with four children and nine grandchildren that he clearly adored. Their admiration for him was evident as well. There was always room reserved in “his spot” for them to sit as well.

He is survived by his wife, Tina; children, Justin Hodges (Jayla), Evan Hodges (Ashley), Gabe Stewart (Allison), and Brittany Almand (Coleman); grandchildren, Brylee, Brayden, Brenden, Braxton, and Annaston (Evan and Ashley), Hayden and Isabella (Justin and Jayla), Kyndell and Isla (Gabe and Allison); siblings, Debbie Hodges (Ralph Vincent), David Hodges (Loresia), and his twin brother Jimmy Hodges (Vickie).
