Beloved Son, Uncle, Father, Pops, Pawpaw, and Friend, Lawrence Hubert Campbell Jr,. 70, often affectionately referred to as “Bug” or “Junior,” passed away March 22, 2024.
Lawrence was born July 16,1953 in Atlanta, Georgia to Sybil Dingler and the late Lawrence Campbell Sr., and was the middle of three children. He is survived by his sister Cheryl Campbell-Tohal of Senoia, Georgia; his mother Sybil Campbell of Peachtree City, Georgia; and preceded in death by his brother, Douglas “Allen” Campbell, and father, Lawrence Campbell Sr.
Lawrence was raised in Fairburn, Georgia, where he developed a love of the outdoors with the help of his pawpaw, Lawrence Dingler, one of the most influential people in his life. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gun enthusiast and golfer. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, as well as impromptu car trips to anywhere; often accompanied by one or more of his children.
He is remembered for his sense of humor and his fun, but hard-working spirit. He loved babies, never met a stranger, and loved his family more than anything. He shared his mother's love of baking and cooking skills; most notably, his taco soup and buttermilk pie. His children and grandchildren fondly remember gatherings centered around dominoes, poker, silly jokes, laughing and celebrating their togetherness.
Lawrence retired from SKC, located in Covington, Georgia, where he worked for 18 years as a Reclaim Operator.
Lawrence is reunited in peace with those he loved who preceded him in death, including both his beloved granddaughter Caroline Jones and his great-grandson Nickolas Bryan. Both whom he missed dearly. Lawrence is survived by his six children; Tracie Nichole Campbell-Jones (Robert) of Macon, Georgia; Patricia Marie Campbell of Fayetteville, Georgia; Sybil Shavon Campbell (Dwayne Smith) of Locust Grove, Georgia; Lauren Crace (Kyle) of Oxford, Florida; Christopher James Campbell (Amber) of Milner, Georgia; and Cassandra Brooke Campbell of Macon, Georgia; his seven grandchildren; Amanda Jones, Robert Jones III (Shayla), Rebecca Jones, Wyatt Jones, Caden Crace, Isabella Smith, and Emilia Smith; and his two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Evelyn Hamilton.
