Mary L. O’Donnell

Mary L. O’Donnell, 85, of Macon, died Sunday, September 5, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Sardis Heard Funeral Home with Dr. Ron McClung officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ms. O’Donnell’s name to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will also be accepting donations of rose bushes to be planted in a memorial garden in her honor.

Mary is the daughter of the late Ora W. Clark and Violet Vesta Zinn. She retired from childcare after nearly 35 years of loving and nurturing community and neighborhood children. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed having family gatherings, working in the yard, taking beach trips, and eating out.

Ms. O’Donnell was preceded in death by her parents, Violet Vesta Zinn and Ora W. Clark; her brother, Glenn Clark; and her sister, Geraldine Clark.

Ms. O'Donnell is survived by her children, Rickey O'Donnell of Forsyth, and Diana Layman (Chuck) of Gray; grandchildren, Tonya Brown (James), and Brittany Davis (Greg); great grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Hunter Chancellor, Abigail Brown, Lane Davis, Grayson Davis, Mattie Davis, and Graham Davis; and great great grandchildren, Aurora West and Joanna West.

Sardis Heard Funerals and Cremation Center, 6125 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216 has charge of arrangements.
