Melvin was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia, to the late Bera Cole. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Wanda Lee Cole. Melvin retired from Brown & Williamson after forty years of service. He loved playing golf and was known as being a “jokester”. He always had a love for old cars, especially Fairlanes. He enjoyed being able to take the entire family on trips to the beach. He loved his two dogs, Bella and Roscoe, which some would say they ate better than most people.
He is survived by his four children, Michael Tracy Cole (Donna) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Angela Diane Huckaby (Jimmy Wright) of Macon, Georgia; Robin Rene’ Martinez (Leo) of Phoenix, Arizona; and Karen Shane Horton (Greg) of Macon, Georgia. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Amanda Cole, Ashley Hensel (Zach), Aleesha Hribar (Zach), Bryan Huckaby Jr., Chris Allen, Maria Martinez (Alex), and Jamie Martinez; eight great- grandchildren and a very special niece and nephew, Linda Whirley and Steven Whirley (Amanda), both of Virginia.
