In Loving Memory of Robert “Bobby” Eugene Courtney II  

Robert “Bobby” Eugene Courtney II, 75, of Macon, Georgia, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. He was born in Moultrie, Georgia, in 1947, to the late Robert Eugene Courtney, Sr. and Viola Marie Courtney.  He is preceded in death by his beloved son, USMC Sgt. Kelley Lance Courtney, KIA Fallujah, Iraq.  

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gena, and their beloved sons, Robert Joseph Fernandez, Jr. and Donovan Eugene Courtney. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Emily Jane Fernandez Martien and Isabella Catherine Fernandez Martien of Lafayette, LA; Gentry Harrison Willetts of Gray, GA; Gavin Eugene Courtney and Aleese JoLynn Courtney of Topeka, KS; Robert Logan Courtney and Kellie Marie Courtney of Floral Park, NY; Kinsley Evolet Courtney and Teegan River Courtney of Pensacola, FL; and his great-granddaughter, Isla Jane Neuville of Lafayette, LA.  

Bobby is also survived by his brother Michael Roderick Courtney, nieces Becca Marie Gapczynski and Jennifer Marie Courtney, nephew Jason Michael Courtney, sister-in-law Janice Elizabeth Gerrard, brothers-in-law David Williams, and Homer Eugene Bostick III.  

Bobby graduated from Willingham High School in Macon in 1966 and attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA, before bravely serving in the Air Force for 4 years during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he earned his master's degree in business at Georgia College Extension in Warner Robins, GA. Bobby dedicated 38 years of his professional life to Robins Air Force Base as an aviation computer technician.  

A man of many talents, Bobby was a certified picture framer, electrician, computer technician, plumber, hobbyist farmer, mechanic, and advanced carpenter. He built the home and extended structures that he and his family enjoyed for over 40 years.  

Bobby shared many hobbies with Gena, including traveling and RV camping, gardening, and exotic pet care.  In the kitchen, Bobby was an unrivaled master chef and baker, often filling the air with the sweet smell of homemade pecan pie and his famous chocolate chip cookies.  

A man of faith, Bobby was a Christian with Native American heritage. His grandmother, Erbee Flowers Courtney, was a descendant of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.  

The family will greet friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The United States Air Force will honor his service with military honors during this time.
