Sheila Goree Rigsby Obituary

Sheila Goree Rigsby, 68, of Lizella, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 18, 2024.  A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends for a time of visitation after the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in honor of Ms. Sheila Rigsby to cancer research, Macon-Bibb Animal Rescue, or County Line Baptist Church at County Line Donations, Attn: Winston Morrison, 4359 County Line Road, Lumpkin GA 31815 - maintenance fund.

Sheila was born on June 13, 1955, in Macon, Georgia, to the late David Wendell and Carolyn Cannington Goree.  After she graduated, she began her studies in accounting. Sheila founded, owned, and operated Independent Accounting Services in Macon, Ga for 40+ years. Over that time, she worked diligently for each of her clients, always giving everyone her personal attention. As a result, many of her clients grew to share the feeling of family with her.

Sheila was not only a loyal family member, but a loyal friend as well. No matter how busy she was, Sheila would always take the time for trips to the mountains or the beach with her close-knit group of friends.

Sheila loved with a heart that was bigger than life and shared that love freely. She would always find a way to put a smile on anyone’s face, whether it was something as simple as telling a silly joke or dedicating her time to create a personalized and beautiful work of art. She also had a profound love for animals that was truly admirable. She opened her heart and her home to so many helpless animals and always treated them like family.

Sheila was a loving mother and Nana to her boys and their families, a faithful daughter to her treasured mother, a loyal sister, and dear friend to so many.

Sheila is survived by her devoted sons, Jason Rigsby (Katie Chapman) of Fortson, Ga, and Ryan Rigsby (Chris) of Macon, Ga; her precious granddaughters, Alice and Ruby Rigsby; her sister, Melanie Goree Candler of Milledgeville, Ga, and sister-cousin, Angela Greene Good of Gray, Ga. She is preceded in death by her parents.
