Steven “Mark” Coley, 59, of Macon, died Sunday, January 24, 2021. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sardis-Heard Funeral and Cremation Center Barn with the Reverend Rusty Smith officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Hart's Facebook page. The family will greet friends following the service until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to local charity, Street to Success, 300 Silver Circle Warner Robins GA 31093.
Mr. Coley was born in Thomaston, Georgia and lived in Griffin, St. Simons until finally settling in Macon, Ga in 1987. Mark was a man who could do whatever he set his mind to, was highly motivated to be the best he could be. He owned and managed many restaurants in middle Georgia, including Montego Bay, Music City Grill, Longhorn Steakhouse, Sticky Fingers, and Texas Cattle Company Border Grill and Brewery in Macon and Warner Robins, and currently Texas Border Grill on Houston Road and Michael’s On Mulberry in Macon. The Texas Cattle Company Border Grill and Brewery was the first brew pub /restaurant concept in Georgia. Mark loved people, he loved mentoring his employees which would often turn into life-long friendships. He was a devoted father who loved and cherished his children, raised them with care and love. He was an loving husband to Renee for 32 years who provided a strong foundation of love and strength in their relationship. Mark loved baseball, particularly the Atlanta Braves. He also loved the auto business, having worked with Bob Lee Hyundai, Mark Smith Mazda Volvo in Macon prior to managing/partnering with Texas Cattle Company on Riverside Drive in Macon in 1988. He enjoyed golf, played in many local tournaments for charity, enjoyed many days on the golf course with his son, brother and friends regularly. He was a collector of Braves baseball memorabilia, baseball caps, and golf balls. He loved to watch movies in his downtime and collected his favorites so he could watch at any moment. He loved music, collected CDs, and always had great music playing around him at all times. He loved vacationing on St. Simons Island, lived there for a year before moving to Macon. Mark was a generous man, he loved life and enjoyed meeting new people and knew how to make people smile. He appreciated all his customers and truly cared for his family and employees, touching the lives of many and will be truly missed.
Mr. Coley was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Coley.
Mr. Coley is survived by his wife of 32 years, Renee Cocking Coley of Macon; children, Heather Comer of Macon, Steven Coley (Savannah Bell) of Macon, Suzanna Coley Nichols (Christopher) of Marietta, Georgia, and Stephanie Coley of Macon; mother, Shirley Coley of Thomaston, Georgia; and brother, Gregg Coley of Macon.
