Vera Laverne Cantrell Pritchett

Vera Laverne Cantrell Pritchett, 89, of Macon, Georgia, passed away at home surrounded by her husband and family on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held after visitation starting at 4:00 PM, with the Reverend Ed Chambless officiating. Laverne loved going to Mikado Baptist Church and was an active member of the Son Shiners Sunday School Class.  She was a member of the Federated Garden Club where she won numerous awards for flowers and displays.  She was also a member of the Professional Secretary Association.  Her family would like to thank Traditions Health Hospice for the wonderful care they have given to their mom.  A special thanks to Caregivers: Barbara Nelson and Chaka Shine.

She is survived by her husband, Horace Pritchett Sr.; her children, Randall Cantrell (Theresa), Mark Cantrell (Kathy) and Horace Pritchett, Jr. (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Christy Purvis (Ryan), Crystal Vaughn (Matthew), Bryan Pritchett (Christa), and Amanda Pritchett; her great-grandchildren, Carson, Wade, Owen, Jacob, Ryan, TJ, Madison, Veronica, and Seth; and her great-great-grandchild, Zealand; her brother, Walt Sumner (Janice); nieces and nephews; and many family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Daniel Sumner; her first husband, Clyde Cantrell; her great-grandchildren, Jackson Ryan and Joshua; and her brothers and sisters.
